Blame
Blame! (Japanese: ブラム!, Hepburn: Buramu!) is the definitive Cyberpunk Horror and Hard Sci-Fi masterpiece created by Tsutomu Nihei. Serialized between 1997 and 2003, it is world-renowned for its architectural scale, haunting atmosphere, and "silent storytelling" where the environment tells more of the story than the dialogue.
The story follows Killy, a silent, stoic wanderer armed with the Gravitational Beam Emitter—a small handgun capable of piercing through miles of solid matter. He travels through The City, a Dyson Sphere-like structure that has grown out of control, expanding autonomously for thousands of years. Killy is searching for a human possessing the Net Terminal Gene, a rare genetic marker that would allow a human to access the "Netsphere" and stop the City’s chaotic expansion and the relentless purging of humans by the robotic Safeguard.
