HORIMIYA
Horimiya (Japanese: ホリミヤ) is a modern titan of the Romantic Comedy and Slice-of-Life genres. Originally a webcomic titled Hori-san to Miyamura-kun by HERO, it was re-illustrated by Daisuke Hagiwara into the polished, visually stunning manga that captured global hearts. Serialized from 2011 to 2021, it is celebrated for skipping the "will-they-won't-they" tropes in favor of a realistic, developing relationship.
The story centers on the secret lives of two high schoolers. Kyoko Hori is the "it-girl"—popular, smart, and beautiful—but at home, she’s a plain, hardworking sister who takes care of the house and her younger brother. Izumi Miyamura is the "gloomy otaku" in class—quiet and bespectacled—but outside of school, he is a cool, pierced, and tattooed rebel. When the two accidentally discover each other’s hidden identities, they form a bond based on being their true selves, leading to a sweet and surprisingly deep romance.
