The Promised Neverland (Japanese: 約束のネバーランド, Hepburn: Yakusoku no Nebārando) is a legendary Dark Fantasy, Science Fiction, and Psychological Thriller created by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu. Serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2016 to 2020, it is celebrated for its suffocating tension, brilliant "mind games," and one of the most shocking first-chapter twists in manga history.

The story is set in the year 2045 at Grace Field House, a seemingly perfect orphanage where 38 siblings live happily under the care of their beloved "Mother," Isabella. The children are well-fed, highly educated, and forbidden from venturing past the gate or the forest fence. The protagonist, Emma, along with her genius friends Norman and Ray, discovers the horrifying truth when they attempt to return a forgotten toy to a departing sibling: they are not being adopted—they are being raised as high-quality "meat" for monstrous Demons.
