Shokugeki no Soma (Japanese: 食戟のソーマ, Hepburn: Shokugeki no Sōma), known in English as Food Wars!, is the definitive Gourmet and Ecchi-Comedy shonen series. Created by writer Yuto Tsukuda and artist Shun Saeki (with culinary consultant Yuki Morisaki), it ran in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2012 to 2019. It is famous for its high-stakes cooking battles and its "foodgasms"—over-the-top, metaphorical visual reactions to delicious food.

The story follows Soma Yukihira, a teenager who works at his father's neighborhood diner. His goal is to surpass his father’s cooking skills, but his plans are derailed when his father suddenly closes the shop to travel the world. Soma is sent to Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an elite, cutthroat cooking school where only 10% of students graduate. To survive, Soma must compete in Shokugeki—official cooking duels where students bet everything from their kitchen utensils to their expulsion to prove their culinary superiority.
